FOURTH POST
when we were young, all of us had big dreams. we dreamt of being the smartest, being the elite, being the rich, being the top. Many of us dreamt of being lawyers, doctors, and etc. those were the carefree days of childhood, when results were easy to score and when we werent easily distracted from studies. As we grew older slowly, the troubles of life began to catch up. the dreams that we had at young never seemed so distant. those who aimed for pilots were hindered by poor eyesight. those who had aimed high when they were young ended up mixing with wrong company and floundered. Many of the “high” scorers in primary school were unable to cope when they entered secondary school. most of us dropped further and further in our secondary school life. when we came in to sec one, PSLE score was all that mattered. after two months, the PSLE score was bullshit. something of the past. no matter how good you got or how lousy you got in PSLE, all that mattered were your results in school. we left behind a year of stress to begin anew in another year of stress. The second you didnt understand something, that was it. there was no second chance to understand it, unless you stayed back to ask the teacher or had extra tution. however, some of us were just born stupid. no matter how many times it was explained, even to the most basic form, we just couldnt understand it. The cliques that were formed in the 1st year of studying was just as quickly broken up when we were banded. different classes had their own cliques. it was always this way. Does anyone still have the same dream as they have, when they were a kid? How many kids are out there, dreaming of their ambitions when they grow up, only to have it crushed by reality? Many people struggle. sometimes, it is because they have lousy teachers. sometimes, the problems lie within themselves for not listening. or sometimes, they are just plain stupid ( like me) when i came into PHS, i was aiming for a double science. now after seeing my results, i will be foturnate to get into Combination D. At least 1/4 of my class failed the geography test. i was lucky enough not to be among them. does the problem lie within us or within the teacher? We come in at 13, enthusiastic and eager. We leave at 16, drained out and exhausted Copied & pasted from my blog. just my two cents worth about some stuff. |
