stories that inspire - Trees That Wood

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty."

Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull."

Finally the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me."

After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter" ... and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest.

At the second tree a woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree, I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.

When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree so I'll take this one", and he cut it down.

When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark. The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams.

Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time. Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and he stood and said "Peace" and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.

Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.

The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, He will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.

motivational stories - THE 4 WIVES

There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men.

He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times.

Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her.

One day, the merchant fell ill. Before long, he knew that he was going to die soon. He thought of his luxurious life and told himself, "Now I have 4 wives with me. But when I die, I'll be alone. How lonely I'll be!"

Thus, he asked the 4th wife, "I loved you most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No way!" replied the 4th wife and she walked away without another word.

The answer cut like a sharp knife right into the merchant's heart. The sad merchant then asked the 3rd wife, "I have loved you so much for all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?" "No!" replied the 3rd wife. "Life is so good over here! I'm going to remarry when you die!" The merchant's heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, "I always turned to you for help and you've always helped me out. Now I need your help again. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?" "I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!" replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only send you to your grave." The answer came like a bolt of thunder and the merchant was devastated.

Then a voice called out : "I'll leave with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go." The merchant looked up and there was his first wife. She was so skinny, almost like she suffered from malnutrition. Greatly grieved, the merchant said, "I should have taken much better care of you while I could have !"

Actually, we all have 4 wives in our lives

a. The 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it'll leave us when we die.

b. Our 3rd wife ? Our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, they all go to others.

c. The 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how close they had been there for us when we're alive, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

d. The 1st wife is in fact our soul, often neglected in our pursuit of material, wealth and sensual pleasure.

Guess what? It is actually the only thing that follows us wherever we go. Perhaps it's a good idea to cultivate and strengthen it now rather than to wait until we're on our deathbed to lament

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for constantly reminding us that we should study hard to/and glorify your name and at the same time not forget about you. we thank you for telling us that no matter what happens you will still be by our side taking care of us, carrying us through this tough journey. we also thank you for everything that has happened this whole week because we know that you give everything to us for a reason. we pray that we will still look up to you always be in constant prayer and meditate on your words. i pray that you will take away all the things that are tempting us and focus on studying. we pray that you will watch over gladys soo and let her know that all of us will be here for her including you lord. we pray that she will be able to recover soon and not miss any of the exams. we also ask that the victims of the earthquakes and tsunami will get over it and not much life will be lost. we hope that you will help us to love others like how you loved us because we know that it is becos of you that we can love. we pray that you will also help us to be sorry whenever we sin and also forgive others like how you forgived us. we thank you for all these things and we pray in jesus's name amen. :]

Father lord i thank you for a friend like gladys soo, although not all of us know her well, i believe that all of us do worry about her and i thank you for putting her in this school so that she can get saved. LORD i pray that she will feel your presence everyday and i pray that she will look up to you when she is worrying about anything or when she is sick. i pray that during this period of time when she is sick, she will still look up to you and know that you are in control of her sickness and she will not turn away from you. i thank you for all these things in jesus name i pray, amen.

LORD we also thank you for putting us in this school so that we can learn so much more about you. and we also thank you for this clique so that we can always remind each other to do what is right and we thank you for bonding us together so that we may love one another like how we love our siblings. we thank you that we are able to study and have exams because we know that all we have now are gifts from you. we pray that you will remind us daily that whenever we study it is to glorify your name. i pray that you will remind us that we will not forget the fact that at the end of the race its you who will be standing there and not the rewards that our parents are going to give us. we hope that we will all study hard and focus on our studies and not on other things and we also ask that you will help us to put you at the top of our list and never let your rank drop. we thank you for all these things and we hope that you will let your will be done. in jesus most precious name we pray, amen. :]

LORD, i thank you for giving us the heart to pray for the victims of these earthquakes. and i thank you for the reminder from jovi that we should always pray for others and not have a selfish heart. i thank you for protecting us and i also thank you for staying beside us always. LORD, i pray that you will watch over the victim of the three earthquakes and i pray that the victims will be okay. i ask that they will be able to restore their family and houses and i also hope that the impact will not be too great. i pray that the people will know that you are always by their side protecting them even when there is trouble. and they will praise you even if there are experiencing a storm. i hope that they will soon get on with life and not many lives will be lost. i thank you for all these and i pray in jesus name, amen. :]

Ever heard of Flashmobs?

According to Wikipedia, a Flashmob is when a group of people gather at a certain location, do something out of the blue, and then quickly disperse. The plan is usually discussed in details online, then a short briefing before the flashmob starts.

Don't get me? Look at the two Flashmobs in SG below.

It's fun rightttttttttt! I like the looking up in the sky part. HAHAHAHA.
We should participate in a flashmob one day. xD Some are the BANG flashmobs, where you all drop dead when shot, then there's the freeze flashmob, where you just freeze for 1 or 2 min, etc. Hahahaha! Fun isn't it!

Here's the route plan: We take train from Red Line to Circle Line then to Purple Line then to Outram Park then to Commonwealth MRT then we take Taxi. It's only est. $4.40. So from there we take cab up Dempsey Hill and enjoy ICE CCREAM! :D

its gladysst here again. tomorrow is science and im blogging. isn't that wonderful?! haha im here to inform the clique people that i have a chalet on 18 and 19 march. those who can stay go on 18 which is after the syf thingy.. those who cant stay go on 19. venue not sure yet but i book le. the chalet is near a beach which will be more fun that 1e08 class chalet okay. clique refers to: jerm, joy , grace, jovi, jing kai, joshua, alvin, firdaus, samuel, willi(can?) most likely jingying, MAYBE ELLIE, AND ADMIRALTY PRI DE 6CO 07 CLIQUE WHICH CONSIST OF JEAN, ASHLIE, FIONA , HUITIEN. can?? if u all think bit not comfortable than i dun invite them lo. hope you all can come ah. clique gathering. the following text may be corny or mushy but this is from god to our dearest friend.

Friend, god has plans for each and every one of us. Although you are not a christian but i hope you will read all these that i'm writing now. You may be feeling very down now and you think that nothing is going your way you feel that everything is overwhelming you. But think about it again, theres always something or someone than make you feel worth waiting for. For me its god. for you it may be something else.

I believe that everybody is feeling upset about what you have done. Although we may feel angry or we may nag at you, but we love you so we scolded you we nag at you hoping that you will take in our words and change. God loves you more than anybody loves you. I believe he is more upset than us when he saw you do these things. theres always a better approach than doing this.

Maybe you are troubled by your own problems now, I believe most of us will be praying for you now, cos none of us wants to see you upset just like how god wants us to be happy. Even if you think nobody will give damn bout you what praying all these fake de la but you cant deny the fact that we are really trying to help you, trying to save you.

God has his own plans for us. if you still think your problems are suffocating you, we're always here for you, if you need any help, im here to listen to you to solve the problems with you. If you think whatever "holy" stuffs im writing here is crap is okay i won't mind. I just want you to know that talk to us if you have any problems ok? don't handle everything yourself.
